Like in real life, your horse can get sick during your game on Howrse. Of course, this is never something that happens by chance, and the causes of illnesses are always identifiable. When a horse gets sick, its energy, health and morale go down. In the case of some illnesses, certain actions can also become impossible, for example you cannot feed a horse who has colic.

For some illnesses, such as the flu or worms, preventive treatment may be administered to the horse. The horse will thus be protected for the duration of the preventive treatment, in general two years of the horse's life.

All medications, treatments and vaccinations are available at the breeders' shop, in the Healthcare shelf, under the brand Horse Meds.

Poisoning

A horse can get poisoned when it is put in a pasture or a box that is not well looked after. When a horse is poisoned, it cannot eat or drink. Make sure that the equestrian center where your horse is placed has clean pastures, because land that is not looked after properly can turn into a haven for plants that are toxic to horses.

To treat a poisoned horse, you can give it a anti-poisoning capsule, which you will find at the breeders' shop, in the Healthcare shelf under the brand Horse Meds.

There is no treatment to prevent poisoning.

Mud Fever

A mud fever is an irritation or long thin lesion located most often in the fold of the pastern but that can also occur in the fold of the knee or hock. Mud Fever can occur when you put a horse in a pasture or box that is not well looked after. Make sure that the equestrian center where your horse is placed has clean pastures, because land that is not looked after properly can turn into a haven for plants that are toxic to horses.

To treat a horse that has Mud Fever, you can apply antiseptic ointment, which you will find in the breeders' shop in the Healthcare shelf under the brand Horse Meds.

Colic

A horse can have colic when it is underweight or overweight.

A horse suffering from colic will refuse to eat or drink.
Closely monitor the weight of your horse and feed it appropriately according to its age and size.

To cure a horse of colic, you can treat it with antispasmodic medicine, which you will find at the breeders' shop in the Healthcare shelf under the brand Horse Meds.
